The White House has announced that there has been no breakdown in ceasefire talks aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, with working groups now taking over to finalize details. John Kirby, the White House National Security Communications Coordinator, said that the talks, which are being facilitated by Egypt in Cairo, are making progress and have reached a point where working groups can now focus on the specifics. This includes issues like the Israeli military’s withdrawal from Gaza, prisoner exchanges, and the control of the Philadelphi Corridor, a 14-kilometer stretch of land along the Gaza-Egypt border. Kirby emphasized that the recent rocket attacks by Hezbollah against Israel have not derailed the ceasefire efforts. He said that while Israel successfully defended itself against these attacks, they did not disrupt the work of the teams striving for a ceasefire.
