Prime Integrated Waste Solutions Inc. (PWS), the company that now operates the Binaliw landfill in Cebu City, is exploring legal action against former shareholders of ARN Central Waste Management Inc. (ACI). PWS claims the former shareholders are making false and damaging statements about the company’s operations. The dispute centers around the transfer of ownership of the Binaliw landfill, which PWS acquired in 2022. PWS says it has made significant upgrades to the facility, including implementing a resource recovery strategy and investing in new equipment. However, former ACI shareholder Engr. Arnold Espinoza has accused PWS of irregularities and urged environmental regulators to investigate. PWS maintains that it is fully compliant with environmental regulations and that Espinoza’s allegations are unfounded. The company is seeking a letter of request from the former shareholders to complete the transfer of ownership, which they have yet to issue. PWS has stated its commitment to modernizing waste management practices and improving the Binaliw landfill’s environmental performance, while also creating job opportunities for the local community.
