The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has announced significant changes to the country’s high school graduation exams, effective from 2025. The new regulations aim to comprehensively assess student abilities developed under the 2018 General Education Curriculum and achieve greater efficiency in the exam’s objectives. Key changes include a 50% weighting for academic performance throughout the three high school years (grades 10-12), compared to the previous 30% weighting based solely on grade 12 performance. The exam will also feature new subjects: Computer Science and Technology. Furthermore, while students with qualifying foreign language certificates will be exempt from the foreign language exam, their score will not automatically be converted to a perfect 10. This change is intended to ensure that students seeking university admission will still need to take the foreign language exam.
