A Vietnamese woman narrowly escaped losing a significant amount of money after being targeted by an online investment scam involving a fake cattle farming app. The woman, identified only as T., was contacted by a Facebook user named Duc Tien, who persuaded her to invest in the app, promising high returns. T. initially invested a smaller amount and received what appeared to be initial profits. However, Tien then pressured her to invest a further $15,000, claiming even higher returns. Suspicious of the large investment request, T. sought to borrow the money from a local bank. Bank staff recognized the potential scam and alerted the local police. After being informed of the risks and common tactics used by scammers, T. realized she had been targeted and stopped the transaction. The incident serves as a warning to be wary of online investment opportunities, particularly those involving high returns and pressure to invest large sums of money.
