The upcoming launch of the new Bengaluru Cantonment-Madurai Vande Bharat train has led to the suspension of the popular Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat service, causing frustration among travelers during the peak Onam season. The decision to halt the Ernakulam-Bengaluru route, which typically operates daily, has sparked concerns about the availability of affordable transportation options to Kerala during the festive period. Passengers are particularly worried about the impact on travel costs, as bus fares to Kerala have already risen to Rs 3500 and are expected to further increase closer to Thiruvonam. The Kerala-Bengaluru Train Users Forum has urged MPs from Kerala to intervene and reinstate the Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat service, highlighting its importance for travelers and the potential hardship caused by its cancellation.
