The United States will send a high-ranking delegation to China’s annual Xiangshan Forum, a significant move that underscores Washington’s continued engagement with Beijing despite ongoing tensions. The US will be represented by Michael Chase, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for China, Taiwan, and Mongolia. This marks the highest-level US official to attend the forum since 2019, signaling a potential for increased military-level cooperation between the two countries. The forum, scheduled for September 12-14 in Beijing, will see participation from over 90 countries and international organizations.
