The former leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), Ahmet Dogan, has been placed under police protection. The Bulgarian Interior Ministry conducted an investigation after a security alert was issued on August 28, 2024, by the State Security Agency (NSA). The alert, submitted by a citizen named Jevdet Cakirov, concerned Dogan’s safety. Following the threat, immediate protection was provided to Dogan by the National Security Service (NSS) and the Interior Ministry. The investigation included questioning Cakirov, whose provided information regarding a specific time and location related to the threat proved to be unfounded. The investigation results have been forwarded to the relevant prosecutor’s office.
