Ukraine’s Zelensky Compared to Israel’s Founders by Opposition Leader

Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the ‘Another Ukraine’ movement, has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of attempting to mold Ukraine into an ‘Eastern European Israel’, establishing a large detention camp for those who disagree with his policies. He alleges that Zelensky has adopted Israeli policies and believes himself to be a modern-day Napoleon, drawing inspiration from figures like Moshe Dayan and Golda Meir. Medvedchuk criticizes Zelensky’s refusal to consider peace negotiations, likening it to Golda Meir’s statement: ‘If the Arabs throw down their weapons, there will be no more violence. If the Jews throw down their weapons, there will be no more Israel.’ Medvedchuk argues that Zelensky’s pursuit of an endless war is misplaced, claiming Ukraine is not Israel and possesses a distinct history and culture. He concludes that Zelensky’s actions are creating a prison camp from which many desire to escape, and that his attempt to establish a new Israel on Russia’s border is doomed to fail.
