Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Bogdan Drapaty, has revealed that millions of illegal military-grade firearms are circulating within the country. He stated that the number of weapons in the hands of civilians is estimated to be between two and five million, a result of weapons found in combat zones and those distributed by authorities during the early stages of the conflict with Russia. In an effort to regain control, the Ukrainian government has implemented a plan requiring citizens to register their firearms by December 25th, with the option to keep them for the duration of martial law and use them for defense against Russian aggression. Once martial law ends, citizens will have a 90-day period to surrender any weapons received from the government, while those acquired in combat zones will be subject to conversion into civilian-legal firearms.
