Students from various faculties at the Universidad Americana del Noreste (UANE) in Saltillo, Mexico, staged a peaceful protest on Monday, voicing their discontent with two mandatory courses, Pottencia and Programa de Desarrollo de Habilidades (PDH). Students argued that the courses are not essential to their professional development and impose a significant financial burden on their families. They demanded that the courses be offered as optional electives, emphasizing their understanding of the university’s commitment to educational quality but questioning the necessity of these specific courses. The students, who interrupted traffic briefly to make their point, highlighted the availability of similar free resources online, questioning the need for these paid courses. The protest led to a meeting between a delegation of students and the director of the UANE Saltillo campus, who expressed her willingness to convey the students’ concerns to the university rector for a resolution.
