The University of Oaxaca (UABJO) hosted its 2nd Exotic Pet Expo, bringing together over 50 exhibitors showcasing a wide variety of non-traditional pets. The event, organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, aimed to raise awareness about responsible exotic pet ownership and combat the illegal trafficking and abandonment of these species. Visitors had the chance to learn about different types of snakes, hedgehogs, ornamental birds, geckos, chameleons, axolotls, rabbits, turtles, and more, with informative talks and educational opportunities. The event also offered the opportunity to purchase exotic pets, promoting responsible breeding and ethical care practices. With a focus on education and responsible pet ownership, the UABJO Exotic Pet Expo provided a unique opportunity for pet enthusiasts to connect, learn, and explore the world of non-conventional pets.
