Typhoon No. 10 is expected to make its closest approach to Shimane Prefecture on the night of August 30th and into the early hours of August 31st, bringing heavy rain and potential disruptions to daily life. The Matsue and Tottori Local Meteorological Offices warn of over 100 millimeters of rainfall within a 24-hour period starting from August 30th. Many schools, including elementary, middle, and high schools across Shimane Prefecture, have announced temporary closures on August 30th. Transportation services are also expected to be affected, with JR West announcing service suspensions on the Yamaguchi Line and the San’in Line west of Masuda, as well as potential cancellations and delays on other routes. Air travel is also at risk, with numerous flights to and from Izumo Airport and other destinations expected to be cancelled.
