Turkish Lawmaker: Street Animals Have Short Lifespans, New Law Aims to Protect Them

Vahit Kirişci, a Turkish lawmaker and head of the Parliament’s Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Affairs Committee, has spoken in favor of a new law designed to protect stray animals. The law mandates the collection of all stray dogs and their care at shelters until they are adopted. Kirişci argues that the current situation is unsustainable, pointing out that street dogs rarely live beyond two years due to harsh conditions. The new law, he believes, will ensure a better quality of life for stray animals by providing them with necessary care and increasing their chances of finding loving homes.
