Turkish Fans Chant ‘We Are Mustafa Kemal’s Soldiers’ During Victory Day Match

The 30th of August, Turkish Victory Day, was celebrated with fervor across the country, including during the Fenerbahçe-Alanyaspor match in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district. Both sets of fans displayed giant Turkish flags and a choreography depicting Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey. Fans sang patriotic songs, creating an atmosphere of national pride. As the players warmed up, a banner reading ‘Happy 102nd Anniversary of the Victory of a Nation’s Liberation and Existence’ was unfurled. The Fenerium stand also featured flags of historical Turkish empires. Before the match, both teams entered the field with a banner carrying Atatürk’s famous quote: ‘Great victories can only be achieved by great nations!’ The stadium echoed with the chants of ‘We are Mustafa Kemal’s soldiers’.
