Trump specifically referenced his 2019 meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, highlighting that he briefly entered North Korean territory. He maintains that he had a good relationship with Kim and that it’s advantageous to foster understanding with nations like North Korea and Russia. Trump’s remarks come after Harris declared in August that she would not be drawn into alliances with authoritarian leaders like Kim Jong-un, stating that these individuals are easily manipulated through flattery and favors.
