A tragic incident occurred in Katoličko Selo, near Velika Ludina, Croatia, where three men were found dead in a weekend house. Initial investigations suggest carbon dioxide poisoning during wine fermentation as the cause of death. Police, responding to an early morning call, discovered the bodies with no visible injuries. According to reports, the first man collapsed, and two others attempted to help but also succumbed. A friend discovered the bodies after one of the deceased failed to answer calls from his wife. Miroslav Polovanec, president of the Bregovita Hrvatska winegrowers association, highlighted the dangers of using dry ice for cooling wine. He stressed that modern refrigeration systems are safer and more effective for temperature control. Polovanec emphasized the importance of proper ventilation in cellars to prevent such accidents. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy.
