A tragic incident occurred on Monday, August 26th, near Boracay Island, Philippines, when two motorboats capsized in rough seas, leaving seven people missing and claiming the lives of three others. The boats were traveling between Boracay Island and Antique province when they encountered large waves and strong winds. One boat, carrying six people, capsized early in the morning while traveling to Caluya. A larger boat, FBCA Ure Mae, carrying 14 passengers, attempted to assist the distressed individuals but unfortunately also capsized in the process. Rescue efforts were promptly initiated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). The PCG units stationed in Caluya, Boracay Island, and Romblon province collaborated with the MDRRMO to locate the missing victims. The PCG managed to rescue eight passengers clinging to parts of the capsized boats. However, the bodies of Christopher Gajero, Marlon Belleca, and Mark Delloro were later discovered on the shores of nearby Romblon province. Authorities are urging vessels, fishermen, and coastal residents to report any possible sightings of the missing passengers.
