The Devadula lift irrigation project, a key initiative for Telangana’s agricultural sector, is slated to begin operations in March 2026. The project, utilizing water from the Godavari River, will provide irrigation for 300 days a year, significantly benefiting the Warangal district. The project’s completion will involve the appointment of 1,800 ‘Laskars’ for maintenance of irrigation canals and structures. This initiative, alongside the appointment of 700 assistant engineers, reflects the state government’s focus on improving irrigation efficiency. The Devadula project, once operational, will utilize 60 tmc ft (thousand million cubic feet) of water from the Godavari River and will be inaugurated by Sonia Gandhi, who laid the foundation stone for the project.
