The number of missing teenage girls in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, has surged by 57% in just three years, prompting authorities to investigate the alarming trend. According to the National Search Commission, the number of missing girls between the ages of 12 and 17 jumped from 258 in 2021 to 406 this year. This alarming increase has raised concerns about the safety of young women in the region. Data reveals that teenage girls are disproportionately affected by disappearances compared to boys. Of the 1,700 women reported missing in Nuevo Leon, 24% are teenagers, compared to just 8% of the 1,875 missing men. Experts believe the increase in teenage girl disappearances may be linked to other crimes, highlighting the urgent need for effective measures to address this pressing issue.
