Taipei prosecutors are investigating possible financial irregularities linked to the Kyohwa City development project, raising questions about the involvement of the city’s former mayor, Ko Wen-je, and his deputy, Peng Zhen-sheng. The investigation has focused on the accounts of Ko’s wife, Chen Pei-qi, and Peng’s wife, Xie Xia-qiao, who allegedly had suspicious financial transactions during the period surrounding the Kyohwa City project. The investigation led authorities to search the homes of Ko and Peng, as well as Ko’s office at the headquarters of the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP), the political party he founded. Ko and Peng, along with their wives, were brought in for questioning, with Chen Pei-qi being released after interrogation. The investigation is ongoing, with prosecutors examining whether the financial transactions were connected to the Kyohwa City project and whether any corruption or illegal activities took place.
