Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je was arrested by prosecutors during an interrogation related to a corruption investigation surrounding the Jinghua City real estate development project. Ko Wen-je refused to be questioned overnight, arguing that he was fatigued and unable to provide adequate answers. The prosecutors, however, deemed it necessary to prevent Ko Wen-je from leaving and therefore proceeded with his arrest. Ko Wen-je’s lawyer stated that they will file a motion for review with the Taipei District Court to challenge the legality of the arrest. Former Deputy Mayor of Taipei, Peng Zhen-sheng, was also arrested during the investigation.
