The Spanish region of Extremadura is offering up to €15,000 in financial incentives to attract 200 digital nomads to its picturesque landscapes. The government is investing €2 million in the program, which aims to boost the region’s economy by leveraging remote work opportunities. Individuals under 30 can receive €10,000, while those over 30 are eligible for €8,000. An additional €5,000 (for those under 30) and €4,000 (over 30) is available if they stay for a minimum of three years. The program is open to citizens of all countries, but non-EU residents must participate in Spain’s digital nomad visa program. Applicants should not have lived in Extremadura for the six months prior to applying, and must relocate to a town with a population under 5,000. The program prioritizes workers in the technology sector, who can demonstrate remote work capabilities and commit to living in the region for at least two years. Applications will be submitted online via the Extremadura General Electronic Access Point, with details to be published in the region’s official gazette, likely by mid-September.
