The Yeongyang Police Station in South Korea has taken a proactive step in supporting crime victims by establishing a ‘Comprehensive Support Network for Crime Victims.’ This initiative involves a collaboration with various local organizations, including the Yeongyang County Mental Health Center, the Yeongyang County Office of Social Welfare and Hope Welfare Team, the Legal Aid Center’s Customized Welfare Team, the Gyeongbuk Disability Rights Association Yeongyang Branch, and the Yeongyang Lions Club. The collaborative network aims to provide comprehensive support to crime victims, encompassing emergency financial aid for families impacted by domestic violence, medical expense assistance for victims in shelters, and strategies to prevent re-victimization. The Yeongyang Police Chief, Kim Won-beom, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating that the network will provide victims with crucial specialized support and ensure that the police are doing everything possible to prevent domestic violence and discrimination.
