South Korea’s ‘Starlight Moonlit Travel’ tourism package, developed by the Korea Tourism Organization, has won the Gold Award for Tourism Destination Resilience from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). This award recognizes the program’s innovative approach to promoting sustainable and responsible tourism in Jeollanam-do, focusing on the region’s pristine natural beauty and low light pollution levels. The package, a one-night, two-day experience, offers visitors a chance to witness the stunning spectacle of the night sky, showcasing the region’s unique stargazing opportunities. The program, which was piloted last year, quickly gained popularity, leading to its official launch this year. The PATA’s recognition highlights the program’s success in promoting environmentally friendly travel experiences that contribute to the local economy.
