A structural consultant involved in the construction of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which collapsed in Malvan, Sindhudurg district, has been arrested and remanded to police custody. Chetan Patil, the consultant, was arrested by Kolhapur police and will remain in custody for five days. Patil, along with sculptor Jaydeep Apte, were both accused of negligence leading to the statue’s collapse. Apte remains at large, with police continuing their search for him. This arrest marks the first in the investigation into the incident, which has sparked outrage in the region.
