Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was fined 10 percent of his match fee and handed a demerit point for his outburst during the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Shakib was found guilty of breaching the International Cricket Council’s code of conduct after he threw the ball at batter Mohammad Rizwan, expressing his frustration over the Pakistan wicketkeeper’s alleged time-wasting tactics. The incident occurred during the second innings when Rizwan was slow to face a delivery. Shakib, known for his fiery temperament, threw the ball towards Rizwan, although it missed and was collected by wicketkeeper Litton Das. The action did not go unnoticed by umpire Richard Kettleborough, who was unimpressed. Despite this incident, Shakib contributed significantly to Bangladesh’s first-ever Test victory over Pakistan. He claimed four wickets, including three in the second innings, as Bangladesh bowled out Pakistan for 146.
