Malayalam actress Shakeela has spoken out about alleged attempts to sabotage her career, claiming that her films were denied censorship, faced bans, and were even discussed with a Muslim minister. She attributes these actions to the AMMA association, stating that she learned of these plots from a now-deceased actor. Shakeela says that her films were a vital support to the Malayalam cinema industry during a time when theaters were being converted into wedding halls, but her career was ultimately destroyed through the misuse of power. While she had spoken about these events in 2001, she claims she received no support from the industry. However, Shakeela asserts that these issues are not exclusive to Malayalam cinema, claiming that casting couch is more prevalent in Tamil Nadu, followed by the Telugu film industry.
