Barni, a 5-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, has been named the winner of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) 2024 Cutest Canine Contest. This bomb-sniffing dog works at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) alongside his handler, Michelle Cogle, providing crucial explosives detection as part of airport security. While Barni is a dedicated K-9 officer on the job, at home he’s a playful goofball who loves chasing squirrels and fetching toys. His winning charm has earned him a spot on the cover of the TSA’s 2025 Canine Calendar, which will be released in December.
