South Korea is bracing for a scorching weekend, with temperatures expected to soar to as high as 34°C in some regions. The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has issued warnings for extreme UV levels, advising residents to limit outdoor exposure during peak hours. While central and southern regions are expected to experience mostly clear skies, the eastern parts of Gangwon province, Gyeongsang province, and Jeju Island may see intermittent cloud cover. A sudden downpour in Busan’s Gangseo-gu district caught many by surprise, highlighting the need for preparedness. The KMA predicts the morning low temperatures will range from 19°C to 25°C, while afternoon highs will reach between 29°C and 34°C. The UV index is expected to be ‘extremely high’ across the country, except for certain areas along the east coast during the afternoon. The KMA advises avoiding outdoor activities between 10am and 3pm, and urges residents to stay indoors or in shaded areas. Those who venture out should wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses to minimize sun exposure.
