A vibrant green layer has been spotted on the surface of the Sava River near Ada Ciganlija, attracting attention from locals and visitors alike. This unusual green hue, visible from the bridge and shoreline, has prompted questions about the river’s health. While some initially worried about potential pollution, observations revealed the green color to be a result of a dense collection of tiny aquatic plants, known as an algae bloom. This phenomenon, often referred to as ‘Sava blooming,’ occurs regularly, disappearing and reappearing depending on factors like water level and temperature. Experts confirm that this green layer is a natural occurrence and does not pose a threat to the river’s water quality.
