Al Ahli, a Saudi Arabian club, is on the verge of signing Chelsea’s coveted striker targets, Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen. The club has reportedly agreed to pay £40 million for Toney from Brentford and £67.3 million for Osimhen from Napoli. This double swoop, worth a combined £107.3 million, comes as a blow to Chelsea, who were actively pursuing both players. Chelsea had initially planned to bring Osimhen on loan with an obligation to buy, but Al Ahli’s lucrative offer, including a four-year contract with a massive salary, reportedly swayed the Nigerian forward. Toney, with only one year remaining on his contract, was also a prime target for Chelsea. However, Al Ahli’s swift and decisive action has seemingly secured both players, despite some doubts regarding the feasibility of the transfer due to foreign player regulations in the Saudi Pro League. While Chelsea are happy with their current squad, the club’s pursuit of a striker may intensify if they miss out on both Toney and Osimhen.
