A Russian soldier, identified online as Kupol, has expressed outrage over unequal pay for soldiers fighting in different regions of the war. He claims that soldiers fighting in Russian territories, including those who have suffered heavy casualties, are receiving significantly less pay than their counterparts fighting in Ukraine. Kupol, a member of the ‘Governor’s Regiment’ based in the Moscow region, highlights the disparity in a video posted on social media. He reveals that his unit, considered elite, suffered significant losses in the Vovtshansk region (in the Kharkiv Oblast). Following these losses, the unit was redeployed to Kursk, a region in Russia where Ukrainian forces have made advances in recent months. Kupol expresses frustration that they are receiving just 335 euros per month, despite being involved in the ‘special military operation.’ In stark contrast, he claims soldiers fighting in Ukraine are paid 1970 euros monthly. He demands clarification and answers regarding this unequal treatment, expressing anger and confusion.
