Ruperto Roldán, a resident of San Diego Cuachayotla, was released from custody after being detained on charges of drug possession. His family and community members staged a protest, blocking a major highway, alleging that the charges were false and the arrest was arbitrary. They claimed that police planted drugs on Roldán, known locally as ‘El Gavilán’ (The Hawk), after forcibly entering his home. The family had sought help from the Prosecutor’s Office and the C5 emergency system but their pleas were initially ignored. It was only after the road closure and subsequent negotiations that Roldán was released, with his mother expressing relief and gratitude to those who supported her son. Roldán himself spoke of feeling alone during his detention but expressed gratitude for the community’s unwavering support.
