Vinnie Pasquantino, the Kansas City Royals’ first baseman, will miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a broken right thumb. The injury occurred during Thursday’s game against the Houston Astros when Pasquantino collided with Astros’ runner Yainer Diaz while attempting to field a throw. Pasquantino is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. The Royals, currently in contention for a playoff spot, will have to adjust their lineup in his absence. Pasquantino was a key contributor this season, hitting .262 with 19 home runs and 97 RBIs in 131 games.
