Telesecundaria No. 56 in Rosarito, Baja California, was the only school to begin classes on Monday, August 26th. The remaining basic education schools are expected to start the school year no later than Wednesday, August 28th, according to Jessica Zavala Sámano, delegate of the Education Secretariat. While most public schools opened their doors on Monday, many dedicated the day to cleaning or addressing other needs arising from the recent teacher strike. Zavala Sámano believes that by Wednesday, all students will be back in classrooms. The Education Secretariat is working on a list of missing teachers to address any staffing shortages quickly.
