Romania’s Healthcare Spending Rises by 4.7% in 2022

Romania’s national healthcare system saw its current expenditures climb by 4.7% in 2022, reaching 80.56 billion lei, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). Public funds accounted for the majority of financing, contributing 77.8% or 62.66 billion lei. Social security funds were the largest source of healthcare funding, reaching 49.19 billion lei in 2022, representing 61.1% of total current healthcare expenditure.
