The 2024-25 Europa League is taking on a new format, with a single group of 36 teams competing for a spot in the knockout rounds. Roma and Lazio, both strong contenders, will face off against each other in this exciting new competition. The new format will see each team play eight matches – four at home and four away – with teams from the same country prohibited from facing each other. At the end of the group stage, the top eight teams will advance directly to the round of 16, while those finishing between 9th and 24th will compete in a play-off round for a chance to reach the round of 16. The bottom 12 teams will be eliminated. Roma and Lazio are seeded in the top tier, ensuring they face less formidable opponents in the initial stages.
