The Rivers State House of Assembly, loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed Lawrence Oko-Jaja as the new chairman of the Board of the Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement (BPP). Seven other individuals were also approved as board members: Dr. Ernest Ibekwe Ekwe, Dr. Mina Ogbanga, Iseleye Amachree, Adokiye Oyagiri, Gift Alex-Hart, Mrs. Grace Osaronu, and Selinah Amonieah. The confirmation took place during a plenary session at the State House of Assembly in Port Harcourt. The nominees were screened by lawmakers and answered questions about their experience and plans for ensuring value for money in state contracts. Oko-Jaja, the new chairman, pledged to ensure accountability and transparency in all procurement processes. The Speaker emphasized the importance of probity and loyalty to the state government in their new roles. Following their confirmation, the nominees will be sworn in by the governor.
