Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has called for an independent investigation into the death of Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail al-Ghoul, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. RSF claims that Israel has a pattern of targeting journalists and lacks credible evidence to justify al-Ghoul’s killing. The organization has accused Israel of failing to provide any explanation for the death of al-Ghoul’s cameraman, who was also killed in the airstrike. RSF has filed three complaints with the International Criminal Court alleging war crimes by Israel against journalists. Since October 2023, over 130 media professionals have been killed in Gaza by Israeli forces, including 31 while carrying out their duties.
