Esquerdo, who played for Uruguayan club Nacional, died after suffering a heart attack at the age of 27. The club offered its condolences to his family, teammates, friends, and the entire Uruguayan football community. Esquerdo collapsed on the field during a Copa Libertadores match last Thursday while playing for Nacional against Sao Paulo. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and placed on life support. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, his condition deteriorated and he sadly passed away on Tuesday.
