The Rajasthan government is set to provide subsidized cooking gas cylinders to millions of families starting September 1st. This initiative, announced in the recent budget, extends the existing subsidy program to beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). The program aims to provide a gas cylinder for ₹450 to each eligible family, with the government covering the difference between the subsidized price and the actual cost. This move is expected to benefit approximately 68 lakh families, including those who previously received subsidies through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and BPL (Below Poverty Line) schemes. To receive the subsidy, beneficiaries must link their LPG IDs and Jan Aadhaar details. The government expects this scheme to significantly ease the financial burden on households and improve access to clean cooking fuel.
