The AIADMK, a major political party in Tamil Nadu, has launched a scathing attack on the ruling government in Puducherry, claiming that the union territory, known for its spiritual significance, is experiencing a cultural decline. The party’s state secretary, Anbalagan, during a recent event, stated that the three years of the ruling coalition have seen a marked deterioration in cultural values, with rampant nightlife and a disregard for traditional norms. He pointed to the proliferation of restaurants and bars operating late into the night, attracting visitors from neighboring states, and argued that these establishments are contributing to the erosion of cultural values. Anbalagan further criticized the government’s focus on tourism revenue at the expense of development initiatives, neglecting infrastructure improvements and job creation for local residents. He called for the reinstatement of the AIADMK government to restore Puducherry’s cultural heritage and prioritize the welfare of its people.
