Authorities in the state of Nueva Esparta, Venezuela, are implementing rolling blackouts of four hours per sector, relying on the Juan Bautista Arismendi Thermal Power Plant (PJBA) to provide electricity to 50% of the island. While hotels, airports, and shopping centers remain operational, residents face disruptions to their daily lives. Gas stations were initially shut down in the morning but reopened later in the day to allow citizens to refuel.
