The former Portuguese Foreign Minister, Augusto Santos Silva, will be heard by the parliamentary inquiry commission into the case of the Brazilian twins on October 8th. The hearing of the former President of the Assembly of the Republic will begin at 2:00 PM and will take place on the same day as the hearing of the President of the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed), Rui Santos Ivo, who will be heard afterwards. The commission will also hear the former Minister of Health, Manuel Pizarro, and his predecessor, now a Socialist MEP, Marta Temido, on September 27th. The former Minister of Justice, Francisca Van Dunem, will be heard on October 11th. The inquiry commission into the case of the Brazilian twins treated at the Santa Maria hospital in Lisbon will resume work after the parliament’s summer break on September 13th. The case involves the alleged illegal access to specialized medical care for the twins who required the expensive Zolgensma medication to treat Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
