Portuguese defender Tiago Djalo was set to join Roma on loan from Juventus ahead of the transfer window’s closure. However, the deal unexpectedly fell apart. According to the newspaper A Bola, Djalo had even completed his medical tests, while Roma was simultaneously pursuing other defensive options. Roma had their sights set on three other players: Kevin Danso, Loic Bade, and Mario Hermoso. Negotiations with all three ultimately failed. Djalo’s loan was meant to last until the end of the season. He had already been staying in a hotel in the Italian capital, awaiting his official announcement as a new Roma player. After hours of waiting, Djalo left the hotel and returned to Turin. ‘I won’t say anything now, I’ll speak later,’ the Portuguese player stated.
