The Portuguese government is expanding its primary healthcare system by introducing 20 new Family Health Units (USF) under the Model C system. These units, which are currently in an experimental phase, will be awarded through a competitive process to both private and social sector entities. Ten new USF Model C units will be established in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, with five units each in Leiria and the Algarve. The move aims to improve healthcare accessibility and provide a wider range of services to patients.
