The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) returned to Circuit of The Americas for the first time in four and a half years, with the opening practice session for the Lone Star Le Mans. Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Matt Campbell claimed the fastest lap in the No. 5 Porsche 963, putting the German manufacturer ahead of the competition. The session, held under sunny and warm conditions, was briefly interrupted by a red flag and a full course yellow. Campbell’s impressive time of 1m53.574s edged out Oliver Rasmussen in the No. 38 Hertz Team JOTA Porsche 963, who set a time of 1m54.051s. The two factory Ferrari AF Corse 499Ps finished fourth and fifth, while Cadillac Racing’s Alex Lynn placed sixth in the No. 2 V-Series.R. In the LMGT3 class, the No. 55 Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 LMGT3 driven by Alessio Rovera was the fastest. The No. 88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang, driven by Dennis Olsen, followed closely behind.
