Pope Francis to Lead Mass for 80,000 Catholics in Indonesia

Pope Francis will lead a special Mass at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 5, 2024. This event, expected to draw 80,000 Catholic worshippers, is part of the Pope’s apostolic journey to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore. The Mass, scheduled for 5:00 PM local time, will be held in the main stadium, which will open at noon for attendees. Pope Francis’s visit marks the third time a Pope has visited Indonesia, following the visits of Pope Paul VI in 1970 and Pope John Paul II in 1989.
