Authorities in Iran have closed the old road connecting Mashhad and Neyshabur for the safety of pilgrims walking during the mourning period for Imam Reza (AS). The decision, made by police officials in Khorasan Razavi province, aims to provide a safe and comfortable journey for the large number of pilgrims traveling on foot. The closure will remain in place until September 6th, when the mourning period concludes. After this, the road will reopen for vehicles, but only in one direction, from Mashhad towards Melk Abad, to manage the flow of returning pilgrims.
