A Davao court in the Philippines has ruled that a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) issued to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) does not prevent the Philippine National Police from serving arrest warrants on its founder, Apollo Quiboloy, and other members. The court stated that the TPO and police operations serve separate purposes and are not contradictory. The court also emphasized that the issuance of arrest warrants must be necessary and reasonable. Despite the TPO, the police had previously conducted a raid on the KJC compound in search of Quiboloy, who is facing charges of human trafficking and other offenses. The Department of Justice had previously deemed the TPO “moot and academic,” stating that police operations were lawful.
